How It Works
Extract high-quality still images from any video in four simple steps. Everything runs locally in your browser — no uploads, no accounts, no waiting.
Upload Your Video
Drag and drop your video file into the browser, or click to browse and select a file from your computer. We support all major video formats including MP4, WebM, MKV, MOV, and AVI. There is no file size limit — since everything processes locally on your device, the only limit is your device's available memory.
- Drag & drop or click to browse
- Supports MP4, WebM, MKV, MOV, AVI, and more
- No file size limits — everything stays on your device
- Video metadata is instantly analyzed (resolution, duration, codec)
Configure Extraction Settings
Fine-tune your extraction parameters to get exactly the frames you need. Set a specific time range if you only need frames from a portion of the video. Adjust the frame rate to control how many frames are extracted per second. Choose between JPEG (with adjustable quality) or lossless PNG output format.
- Set start and end times (HH:MM:SS format)
- Use "Current" button to set time from video player position
- Adjust FPS from 1 to the video's native frame rate
- Choose JPEG (adjustable quality) or PNG (lossless)
Extract Frames
Click "Extract Frames" and watch as your video is processed in real-time. A progress bar shows you exactly how far along the extraction is. Frames appear in the gallery immediately as they are extracted, so you can start reviewing results before the process is complete. You can stop extraction at any time if you have enough frames.
- Real-time progress tracking with percentage indicator
- Frames appear instantly in the gallery as they're extracted
- Cancel extraction at any time — keep frames already extracted
- Fast processing right on your device
Download Your Frames
Browse through your extracted frames in a visual gallery. Click any frame to download it individually, or use the "Download All" button to save every frame as a ZIP archive. Each file is automatically named with its timestamp, making it easy to locate specific moments. Frames are saved at the video's original resolution with your chosen quality settings.
- Visual gallery with all extracted frames
- Download individual frames with one click
- Bulk download all frames as a single ZIP file
- Files are auto-named with timestamps (e.g., frame_00m15s.jpg)
How Does It Work Without Uploading?
Unlike most online video tools that require you to upload your file to a remote server, Video Frame Extractor works directly on your device. Here's what makes it different:
- Instant Loading: When you select a video, it is loaded directly into your browser without any network transfer or uploading.
- Local Processing: The tool quickly jumps to the specific parts of the video you want to capture, using your device's own power to do the work.
- Direct Capture: It takes a snapshot of the exact frame you choose, preserving the original quality of your video.
- Safe Storage: Your extracted frames are temporarily held on your device until you download them. Everything stays on your computer.
The result: your video file, the processing, and the extracted frames all stay on your computer. Our server only serves the webpage itself — it never sees your video data.

Pro Tips
For the sharpest results, pause the video on the frame you want, then use the "CURRENT" button to set the exact time.
Use a lower FPS (1–5) for long videos to avoid extracting too many frames. Use the video's native FPS only for short clips.
PNG format gives you lossless quality but larger files. JPEG at 90%+ quality is visually identical and much smaller.
The time range selector is your best friend. Narrow down the range to only the section you care about.
Extracted frames keep the video's original resolution. A 4K video gives you 4K images.
